Penn State Extension of Clearfield County is pleased to announce that Sierra Lynn Grice was named the 2011 recipient of the Mary Fisher-Owens Memorial Trust Scholarship. Sierra is the daughter of Thomas & Brenda Grice of Clearfield. Sierra was a 2011 graduate of Clearfield Area High School. While in high school, Sierra served as class secretary, was a member of the National & Spanish Honor Society, FFA, Prom Committee, Ski Club, Student Council, and various sports. Sierra graduated high school with a GPA of 3.75, which helped her be named 20th out of 200 students.
Sierra is currently a freshman at Penn State University – University Park Campus, majoring in Animal Science. Her ultimate career goal is to become a veterinarian and one day own her own veterinary practice. Sierra received a $2,117.50 scholarship for the fall 2011 and spring 2012 semester.

The Mary Fisher-Owens Memorial Trust Scholarship is open to all Clearfield County residents entering into Penn State University’s College of Agriculture Sciences as full-time, first-semester freshman. Applications are available at the Clearfield County Extension Office and the deadline to apply is May 1st. The Mary Fisher-Owens Memorial Trust Scholarship is sponsored by Hazen Owens of Olanta and is based on the interest of a $10,000 trust fund.
