BROOKVILLE – The talent-laden Brookville Blue Raiders, featuring five District 9 champions and ranked No. 6 in Class AA by PennsylvaniaWrestlingRankings.com last week, moved closer to a dual meet milestone with a 62-9 victory over Curwensville Thursday night.Â
Senior Jake Keller and sophomore Tyler Mays were the only Golden Tide (5-11) winners.Â
Keller (19-1) dropped to 132 pounds for the first time this season and pinned Jimmy Miller at the 3:16 mark, while Mays (14-6) registered a major victory with a 4-2 decision against returning District 9 Class AA champion Trey Constable (13-3).Â
Constable reigned at 112 last year after placing second at 103 as a freshman and third at 103 as a sophomore.Â
For Brookville (13-4), falls by Daulton Zimmerman (22-8) at 126, Zach Vroman (19-9) at 152 and Taylor Cudworth (18-8) at 170, Logan Stout (25-4) at 195 and Jacob Cieleski (17-6) at 220 highlighted win No. 499 in program history.Â
Brock Zacherl (10-1) at 138 and Brett Smith (25-4) earned technical falls, Devin Joiner (17-9) posted a major decision, Tyler Dombrowski (22-8) at 182 earned a regular decision, and Brady Mineweaser at 113 and Brodie Zacherl at 145 received forfeits.Â
Vroman (140), Dombrowski (171) and Stout (215) also were district champs in 2011. Smith claimed the gold medal at 112 in 2009.Â
Curwensville travels to Grove City Friday for the two-day Fred Bell Memorial Tournament.Â
