UNION TOWNSHIP – Minor injuries were reported following a three-vehicle accident at 4 p.m. Thursday along U.S. Route 322 in Union Township, the DuBois-based state police reported.
According to the accident report, Adam I. Acosta, 32, of Canyon Lake, Comal, TX was traveling eastbound, rounding a right-hand turn and traveling downhill when the trailer he was hauling lost traction. Acosta subsequently lost control of his vehicle, sliding into the westbound lane.
At that point, the Acosta vehicle struck another driven by Angela L. Shok, 51, of Luthersburg. The Shok vehicle was rounding a left-hand curve just beyond the intersection with DuBois-Rockton Road. After impact, the Shok vehicle rotated and slid off the roadway into a drainage ditch.
The Acosta vehicle continued traveling in an easterly direction within the westbound lane. Eric R. Dressler, 41, of DuBois observed the Acosta vehicle and its trailer coming toward him and swerved to the right. The Dressler vehicle began to exit the roadway into a yard of the Rockton Post Office.
Acosta’s trailer struck the left rear of the Dressler vehicle, causing minor damage. The Acosta vehicle continued until entering the yard of the post office, where it struck a telephone pole and sheared it off. The Acosta vehicle then jackknifed, as it struck and passed over a cement culvert before coming out onto the Old DuBois Road.
Shok sustained minor injuries as a result of the accident. Both Acosta and Dressler were not injured. All three were wearing their safety belts at the time of the accident.
