DUBOIS – The Headwaters Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Dale E. Fox as the executive director of the Headwaters RC&D Council.
“Dale Fox is the ideal person for this position,” said Matt Marusiak, Headwaters RC&D Council Chair. “Her skill and experience in both the for-profit and non-profit worlds will be invaluable to position the Headwaters RC&D Council as a leader in resource conservation in the region.”
Fox’s diverse background includes a lengthy career as a consultant to the DuPont Corporation, as well as significant experience developing non-profit natural resource and community development organizations and extensive grant writing and project management skills. Her volunteer efforts began shortly after she moved to Ridgway, Elk County in 1991, working closely with Headwaters RC&D on the development of the Clarion-Little Toby Creek Rail Trail in Elk and Jefferson Counties. She has also served on the Conservation and Natural Resources Advisory Council and the Pennsylvania Downtown Center.
In addition to supporting ongoing projects, Fox will be responsible for fundraising efforts and the development of new initiatives. “I am particularly interested in exploring how Headwaters RC&D can play an important role related to the development of the shale gas industry in our region. I think that we have a responsibility to do all that we can to help monitor and protect sensitive natural resources that our residents value, but also to research opportunities for cooperative conservation and community projects with interested industry partners”, she shared.
The Headwaters RC&D Council has served the resource conservation needs of Cameron, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Elk, Jefferson, McKean and Potter Counties since 1975. The Council manages projects that address agriculture, forest resource, community development, environmental education, water resource and recreational needs of the region. Current projects include a free water quality testing program for private well and spring water sources to provide a baseline prior to shale gas drilling, acid mine remediation work for Little Mill Creek in Jefferson County, and the 15th Annual Northwest Grazing Conference. Recent past accomplishments include No-Till workshops, the Conservation Stewardship program, the Weed Wildlife program, and alternative energy initiatives.
