An 18-year-old Reynoldsville male, a student at Jeff Tech, was allegedly found in possession of a knife on school property at 12 p.m. Wednesday in Winslow Township, Jefferson County. The offense is a misdemeanor of the first-degree. Charges are to be filed through the district court.
No injuries were reported following a two-vehicle accident at 9:15 a.m. Friday along Interstate 80 at its intersection with the exit 101 eastbound on-ramp in Sandy Township, Clearfield County. A vehicle driven by George M. Krewson, 58, of Chalfont was traveling eastbound in the right lane at the 101 mile marker. He lost control of his vehicle on the snow-covered roadway, and it began rotating in a clockwise motion. His vehicle slid onto the south berm, where it struck a vehicle that had been driven by Barbara J. Benson, 67, of New Castle but had been sitting disabled from a previous accident. The Krewson vehicle then slid north back onto the roadway, where it came to a rest along the north berm of I-80 eastbound and partially on the road. Both Krewson and Benson were wearing their safety belts at the time of the mishap.
No injuries were reported following a single-vehicle accident at 9:11 a.m. Friday along Interstate 80 at its intersection with the exit 101 eastbound on-ramp in Sandy Township, Clearfield County. Barbara J. Benson, 67, of New Castle was traveling eastbound in the right lane when she lost control of her vehicle on the wet and icy roadway. Her vehicle began sliding in a clockwise motion before traveling onto the southern berm, where the front of the vehicle struck the guiderails. Her vehicle came to a rest facing southwest approximately 6 feet off the guiderails. After impact, Benson was able to move her vehicle onto the southern berm, where it was facing west in the eastbound lanes. She was wearing her safety belt at the time of the mishap.
A hit-and-run accident occurred at 12:40 p.m. Thursday along state Route 153 at its intersection with Mount Pleasant Road in Huston Township, Clearfield County. A truck tractor was traveling northbound, and its operator attempted to turn right onto Mount Pleasant Road. The trailing unit struck the guiderail on the right side on the southeast corner of the intersection. The trailer went overtop the guiderail and also knocked down a street sign, which marked Mount Pleasant Road. The operator realized the truck tractor wasn’t able to make the corner, backed up and continued northbound on SR 153. The truck tractor is described as orange, and it pulled an enclosed box semi-trailer. No markings were observed, and no further description is known. It is unknown whether or not the operator was wearing his safety belt. He was not injured.
