CLEARFIELD – Motorists traveling on US Route 322 in Clearfield Borough will encounter an updated traffic pattern at the Third Street intersection starting today at about 1 p.m.
The traffic pattern was changed to integrate access at the new CVS/pharmacy store on Park Place.
Traffic patterns at the intersection have been changed as follows:
- Eastbound USRoute 322 (Bridge Street) traffic will use the right lane for turns onto Third Street as well as to continue onto US Route 322 (Bigler Avenue).
- Eastbound US Route 322 traffic will use the left lane for turns into CVS/Pharmacy ONLY.
- Westbound US Route 322 (Bigler Avenue) traffic will NOT be permitted to turn right when the traffic signal is red.
In addition to the lane designation changes, a flashing “Red Signal Ahead” sign was installed above the roadway on westbound Route 322, prior to the intersection. This sign illuminates to caution drivers when the traffic signal is in the “red” phase.
With the activation of the new signals, violations of all signs and traffic control devices in the area are immediately enforceable.
Traffic lights at several other intersections in the area have been integrated with the lights at the Route 322/Third Street intersection. The incorporation of these signals will promote the efficient flow of traffic through the Route 322 corridor on a regular basis. In the event of a traffic detour from Interstate 80, the technology updates will allow emergency responders to operate the lights in a manner to enhance the movement of traffic through the detour route.
