“It’s too bad the momentum didn’t carry over from last night’s win over Harmony,” said McCracken, “Johnsonburg is a quality team and we had to come out stronger at the beginning of the game and we just weren’t able to do that.”
The Ramettes scored double figures in each of the four quarters while the Lady Tide did not.
Johnsonburg had a twenty point margin at the intermission, 29-9, over Curwensville, which fell to 2-7 on the 2011-12 season.
The northern visitors didn’t let up in the final sixteen minutes of action as they outscored their hosts 32-13 to come away with a very compelling victory.
Curwensville faced a stiff full court press by Johnsonburg as McCracken noted, “We broke their press pretty well in the first quarter but one of our problems was finishing the fast break. We didn’t get many points off of the fast break, which certainly didn’t help our cause.”
The Ramettes were led in scoring by Brittany Watts with 18 while the Lady Tide were once again paced by freshman Ciara Strickland who had 11 on the night.
Johnsonburg also won the junior varsity battle, beating the Lady Tide by a score of 42-31.
The Lady Tide will travel to Flinton on Friday to play the Lady Vikings of Glendale. The junior varsity contest will begin at 6 pm and the varsity will follow immediately.
Glendale defeated the Lady Tide in the first game of the season at Curwensville 54-36.
