UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State men’s basketball will host its fifth annual THON Hoops Fundraiser game at 4 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 15) when the Nittany Lions take on Minnesota in the Bryce Jordan Center. All student ticket sale proceeds benefit the 2012 Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon (THON). The same event last year raised almost $10,000 for THON. Students can purchase tickets at the HUB-Robeson Center from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Thursday (Jan. 12) and Friday (Jan. 13).
THON, the world’s largest student-run philanthropy, partners with The Four Diamonds Fund and the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center to raise funds and awareness for the fight against pediatric cancer. Since 1977, Penn State students have raised more than $78 million for the cause. The Nittany Lion basketball team is coming off a hard-fought 88-82 loss to then No. 12 Indiana on Sunday. Penn State travels to Nebraska for an 8:30 p.m. tip Wednesday (Jan. 11) on the Big Ten Network before returning home to face Minnesota on Sunday.
