FERGUSON TOWNSHIP – A 19-year-old Fallentimber man was flown to the Altoona Regional Medical Center after sustaining moderate injuries following a single-vehicle accident at approximately 7:35 a.m. Friday along state Route 729 in Ferguson Township, the Clearfield-based state police reported.
According to the accident report, the man was traveling northbound at which time his vehicle went off the eastern side of the roadway. There, his vehicle struck some small trees before continuing to travel north and impacting a large tree with its right front end.
The man’s vehicle overturned onto its roof and came to a rest upside down, facing south. The man was able to free himself from the vehicle, before it became fully engulfed in fire, state police said. He wasn’t wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The man will be cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic and a seatbelt violation. Police were assisted at the scene by PennDOT, Simbeck Towing, Curwensville and Clearfield emergency medical services and members of the Grampian, Curwensville and Mahaffey fire departments.
