CLEARFIELD – Six more park benches have been placed in downtown Clearfield through the efforts of the Clearfield Revitalization Corporation, and local businesses and individuals in order to enhance the “walkability” in downtown. The new park benches are placed around the Clearfield County Courthouse and in front of the YMCA. The Victorian park benches are made locally by TD Fabricating & Welding, and are custom-designed with black powder coating to match other Victorian architecture in downtown, such as the decorative lights. Each park bench is sponsored by a local business or individual in the community. The new benches are sponsored by CNB Bank; Sobel & Collins, Attorney at Law; The Yucom Family, In Memory of David E. and Hazel B. Yucom; Grice Gun Shop, Sierra, Dustin and Brenda Grice; and Rob Bozovich on behalf of State Farm Insurance.Â
Main Street Manager Kellie Truman commented on the project, “Thank you to our sponsors and CRC Design committee for continuing this project. These benches not only add a vibrancy to the downtown, but also encourage interaction, increase foot traffic critical for downtown businesses, increase pedestrian safety and overall increase economic productivity linked to walkability, which is the measure of how friendly an area is to walking.”Â
The current benches are used every day and make a visible impact that brings warmth to the center section of town. It is the CRC’s vision to have park benches spread throughout town, located in front of storefronts and populated areas over time. The CRC is accepting business sponsorships, dedications or memorials for another round of benches. There is a minimum of five benches needed to fulfill an order.
