Joseph M. Kinger, 72, of DuBois died Tuesday at his home. Born Aug. 23, 1939 in Shamokin, he was the son of John and Angela (Olivetti) Kinger.
He was a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a 1962 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering.
Mr. Kinger went on to teach naval engineering at Marquette University. He was a project engineer at Babcock and Wilcox Steel Co. in Beaver Falls for 23 years. He retired and moved to Treasure Lake and worked at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center for 13 years.
He played football for the U.S. Naval Academy. He enjoyed fishing and all sports. He was a past volunteer fireman in Beaver Falls.
On Sept. 30, 1995, he married Patricia “Patty” (Rozen) Kinger. She survives.
Mr. Kinger is survived by two daughters, Karyne Anderson and her husband, Kurt of New Fairfield, CT and Kristin Rudolph and her husband, Richard of Weston, CT; two sons, Michael Kinger and his wife, Chrissy of Hummelstown and Mark Kinger and his wife, Dawn of Beaver Falls; one sister, Maryann Lazarski and her husband, John of Orwigsburg; and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Weston, CT.
