Marion “Hop” Whitehad, 82 of Philipsburg (Gearhartville), passed away on Dec. 30, 2011 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center.
Born May 31, 1929, she was the daughter of of the late Charles E. and Viola P. (Shimel) Stratton.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Philipsburg; she enjoyed camping and hiking; she was a homemaker and mother; and she was a 1947 graduate of Philipsburg High School.
On May 24, 1952 in Winchester, VA, she wed John D. Whitehead, who survives at home.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Charles and Donald Stratton and sister Jean Stratton.
She is survived by daughter Marion “Weezie” Twoey and her husband Raymond of Gearhartville; sons John D. Whitehead and his wife Susan of Philipsburg, Barry Whitehead of Gearhartville and Time Whitehead and his wife Joni of Gearhartville; grandchildren Travis Twoey and his wife Leigh of Wellsboro, Matthew Twoey and his wife Randi of Gearhartville, Scott Twoey of Philipsburg, Craig Whitehead and his wife Melanie of Philipsburg, and Joe and Cassie Whitehead of Gearhartville; great-grandchildren Isla and Olive Twoey of Wellsboro and Trenton Twoey of Philipsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Jan. 4 at 11 a.m. at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg, with the Rev. William R. Walker officiating. Burial will be at Philipsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Jan. 3 at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Jan. 4 from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
