Kathryn Jane McMasters, 87, of Curwensville, passed away Dec. 29, 2011 at her residence.
Born Oct. 2, 1924 at Chestnut Ridge, Pike Township, she was the daughter of Frank and Grace Viola (Shugarts) McMasters. Miss McMasters had worked for Airplane Marine in Hyde, the Hosiery Mill in Curwensville, and retired from Kents Sportswear in Curwensville.
She was a member of the Curwensville United Methodist Church and the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union Local 118C in Curwensville.
Surviving are numerous nieces and nephews including Margaret Wingard and Blair Wink and his wife Kay both of Curwensville and Charles Wink of Florida, as well as numerous great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her lifelong companion Percy Hooven, 3 brothers Clair “Mac”, Vorice “Doe” and John McMaster and 2 sisters Ruth Shugarts Doolen and Irene Wink. She was the last member of her generation.
Funeral Services for Miss McMasters will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Jan. 3 at 11:00 a.m., with the Reverend Dr. Robert Ludrowsky officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery Curwensville.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Jan. 2 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and again on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
