Charles L. Hazel Sr., 73 of Sandy Ridge, passed away on Dec. 27, 2011.
Born May 11, 1938, he was the son of the late Maynard and Lena (Maines) Hazel.
He was of Christian faith and served in the US Army. He was retired from Melvin Reese Lumber in Tyrone, RD.
On May 3, 1059 in Fallentimber, he wed Elzina L. (Bennett) Hazel, who survives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Elzina Hazel; five sisters, seven brothers, five grandchildren and son-in-law the Rev. Paul A. Wisor.
He is survived by his wife; daughters Esther Haag and her husband David of Philipsburg, Charlene Twoey and her husband James of Philipsburg, Darlene Leamer and her husband Daniel of Homer City, Karen Carter of Sandy Ridge and Deborah Wisor of Mineral Springs; sons Charles L. Hazel Jr. and his wife Cindy of Houtzdale and Paul Hazel of Sandy Ridge; sisters Betty Goodman of Altoona and Lena Finney and her husband Lowel of Houtzdale; brother Rayford Hazel of Montoursville; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Dec. 30 at the Heath Funeral Home in Osceola Mills at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Samuel Maines officiating. Burial will be at the IOOF Cemetery in Brisbin. Visitation will be on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
