SHANKSVILLE – The Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville sees hundreds of visitors every day. According to WJACTV.com, with the holidays, they’ve seen even more people on a daily basis.
The wind was blistering and it felt as if the temperature was in the 20s on Monday. But that didn’t stop people from visiting the Flight 93 Memorial.
“I stopped yesterday, Christmas Day and it was closed,” said Cookie Nee of Irwin, Pa. “So I thought I would just stop back today. And it’s windy. It’s cold.. But it’s a nice day to be here.”
People from across the country who were visiting friends and families during the holidays, stopped to see the new memorial and pay their respects. Some of them were returning after several years.
“Things are so much different with this wonderful memorial here,” said Nee. “I love all the black granite. I love the nice long solemn walk out to the wall and visiting all the peoples’ names on the wall. ”
