Joseph V. (Joe) Van Hoyweghen Sr., 86, Treasure Lake, DuBois, formerly of Clearfield died Dec. 24, 2011
Born June 2, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of the late Frank and Eliza Van Hoyweghen and was of Catholic faith. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II in Washington. D.C. On January 20, 1945, he married Leona (Graham) Van Hoyweghen from the Clearfield-Woodland area, a United States Navy Wave, who also was stationed in Washington D.C. They had a formal uniformed Naval wedding including all wedding party members. After his honorable discharge, they relocated to this area. She survives.
He retired in 1987 after working 40 years in various wholesale & retail sales positions, primarily in the Clearfield area. Back in the day, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. But throughout his entire married life, above all, he cherished his wife, home and family. He will be missed; but always remembered in the hearts of those who loved him.
He is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Thomas) Trout of Marion N.Y., and a son Joseph (Karen) Van Hoyweghen Jr. of Rockton, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
