DUBOIS – Sandy Township Supervisors declare Dec 23, Raymond “Sarge” Anderson Appreciation Day throughout the township as Supervisor Anderson winds down his final days as a Supervisor.
Anderson served 20 years as a supervisor, through reelections, for Sandy Township, two of which were as chairman from 2002 through 2004. According the read proclamation, this was just the tip of “his over 59 years of service to our country and community. . .”.
Anderson began serving country and community by serving four years in the United States Marine Corps. He started in 1948 and left in 1952. This was followed by 35 years as a Pennsylvania State Trooper, beginning in 1955.
“I tell you all, I enjoyed my service,” said Anderson. He stated that he would have done it all over again.
Each supervisor thanked Anderson for their time serving with him. There was food for a celebratory get together after the meeting.
