Larry Perks, Jerry Wilson, John Kennedy, Denny McDonald, Norman Bean and Christine Voyzey, all with the Moshannon Valley AmVets Post 159, stopped by Miss Ashley Bush’s fifth grade class at North Lincoln Hill in December for a surprise lunch.
The Philipsburg-Osceola students wrote 23 letters to the AmVets, thanking them for their service. The veterans were so touched by the letters, they decided to surprise the students by stopping by their classroom for lunch. The group also donated art supplies and other classroom materials. The AmVets said they plan to display the student letters in frames. Here is an excerpt from one of the letters:Â
Dear Veterans,
Thank you for helping us. You guys are the most wonderful people I could ever meet. You girls and guys are so kind to us and we want to say thank you.
