CLEARFIELD – State Rep. Camille “Bud” George, D-74 of Houtzdale, announced that several grants have been awarded through the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Community Conservation Partnerships Program.
“I’m happy to see a number of local projects receiving state funding,” George said. “These projects not only improve the quality of life for Clearfield County residents, but also create jobs in our area.”
On the list of newest grantees:
• $13,000 to Clearfield County for the rehabilitation of Curwensville Lake Park in Pike Township. The project includes installation of play equipment with safety surfacing, ADA access, landscaping and the project sign.
• $136,000 to the Hilltop Howlers Snowmobile Club for the purchase of a snowmobile trail groomer for maintenance of more than 200 miles of trails in Moshannon State Forest.
• $38,500 to Karthaus Township for further development of Karthaus Park, including construction of a comfort station and a pedestrian walkway, installation of utilities, ADA access, landscaping and the project sign.
• $8,100 to Lawrence Township for rehabilitation and further development of Recreational Park, including installation of bleachers and ball field safety screening, ADA access, landscaping and the project sign.
• $30,000 to Westover Borough for rehabilitation of Mosser Park, including construction of a pavilion, installation of electrical upgrades, ADA access, landscaping and the project sign.
The projects are funded through the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund, the Environmental Stewardship Fund, and federal sources. They are administered by DCNR’s Bureau of Recreation and Conservation. Local governments, river and trail organizations, land trusts, and other non-profits receive money for park recreation, conservation and greenway projects.
“This is a great program that will hopefully continue to fund projects in our area,” George said.
