HARRISBURG – Twenty-seven suspected street-level drug dealers were charged with dealing a variety of different drugs in and around Huntingdon County.
Attorney General Linda Kelly said the arrests are the result of a six-month cooperative investigation between the Attorney General’s Bureau of Narcotics Investigation (BNI), the Huntingdon County District Attorney’s Office, the state police, local drug task forces and local police.
Kelly said the investigation focused on street and mid-level drug dealings of a variety of different drugs including, cocaine, heroin, marijuana, psychedelic mushrooms, as well as the powerfully addictive prescription medications Vicodin, Roxicet, Hydrocodone, and morphine.
Narcotics agents, the District Attorney’s Office and local law enforcement agencies combined their resources and manpower to determined many of the suspects sold drugs to their customers on the streets, in parking lots, and in apartments and housing projects throughout Huntingdon County.
Over the course of the investigation, agents and local authorities made a series of undercover purchases and controlled buys in and around Huntingdon.
Kelly said the arrests are part of an ongoing effort to target local, street-level and mid-level drug dealers, who work in connection with upper-level dealers and organizations.
The defendants are scheduled to be preliminarily arraigned today before Huntingdon Magisterial District Judge Richard Wilt. The defendants will be prosecuted in Huntingdon County by District Attorney George Zanic’s office.
Kelly thanked Huntingdon County District Attorney George Zanic’s office, the members of the Huntingdon County Drug Task Force, the Mifflin County Drug Task Force, the Huntingdon Borough Police Department, the Mount Union Borough Police Department, the Huntingdon County Sheriff’s Office, the Juniata Valley Regional Police Department, the Pennsylvania State Police, the Department of Corrections, the Pennsylvania Game Commission, and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission for their assistance with the investigation.
