The Last Word
Jay: “Starting the bowl season off with a bang – go Temple. With Big Ben hurting I think the 49ers can pull one out. Not much to say about the NFL, other than I hope I’m wrong on some of them!”
Dave: “Steelers game most likely comes down to Big Ben’s ankle – if he cannot play or is significantly hobbled while playing, the tough 49er ‘D’ should prevail. However, knowing Ben, he’ll find a way to get on the field and be effective. Not a lot of other great matchups this week, although I’m a BIG Chargers fan this week, along with the rest of Steelers Nation”.
Rusty: “Temple? Why not – The Owls have a strong defense and a pounding running game and will look to make the most of this rare bowl trip. Steelers will have their hands full, but hopefully the long recovery period and the need to win out will motivate them on Monday night. The Eagles looked strong last week with Vick back in the line-up and should win at home this week. Can’t really say I like the Dolphins or Bills in this game – may end in a tie, but Miami has been playing better and Buffalo is back to disappointing fans. Last week I said that the Broncos would falter, and this looks like the week – unless the thin air has a 65-yard field goal to send it into overtime. Go Chargers – again this may be wishful thinking.”
Dustin: “I’m not on the Tebow bandwagon just yet, but I can guarantee that he and the Broncos hosting the Patriots will be the ultimate test. I don’t know whether he’s channeling his inner John Elway, because we all know how great he was in the 4th quarter and overtime in his career. But, even Elway is beginning to like the direction his former, and only, team is heading in. So, I’m deciding to go the upset route and pick the Broncos to defeat the Patriots. If Tebow can take down the Patriots defense, I can honestly say he can bring the Broncos back to their glory days, when #7 was making the calls.”
Chris: “Hard to believe that bowl season is here. Let’s go with Temple in a matchup that is about as appealing as a root canal. I like the Steelers to rally around the unjust suspension of James Harrison to pick up a huge win on Monday night (if Big Ben is able to play).”
