Dorothy Jean McTigue, 78, of Philipsburg died Friday at her residence. Born March 5, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Agnes (Keligher) Stover.
She was a member of the St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg. She worked as a nurse aid at the former Philipsburg State General Hospital until her retirement.
She was first married to James McTigue, who preceded her in death. She’s survived by her companion of many years, Stephen M. Sobol of Philipsburg.
In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Pauline Thomas, Anna Mae Blake, Cecilia Davis and Maxine Dice and two brothers, Howard and Lee Stover.
She’s survived by one son, Stephen M. McTigue of Philipsburg; two sisters, Geraldine Kline of St. Louis, MO and Kathryn Kuhn of State College; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at the St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg, with the Rev. Joseph Staszewski as celebrant. Interment will be at the Philipsburg Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home. The rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
