It was recently made official – – – Saturday July 14th, 2012 NASCAR Racing will arrive in Central Pennsylvania as the Raceway Park in Clearfield, PA will host an event on the Nationally Televised NASCAR K&N Pro Series East schedule… starting the countdown to what is sure to be one of the Most Highly Anticipated Events of the Year to NASCAR Racing Fans throughout the Northeast.
“We’ve been able to do some pretty cool stuff through my NASCAR Career and my family’s involvement throughout the years in racing… and to be able to bring a Major NASCAR Touring Event to Central Pennsylvania in 2012 is just another awesome deal that I am proud to be a part of,” said Tim Bainey Jr.
“I remember a few years ago there was talk of a few investment groups looking to build a facility in the Central Pennsylvania Region that could draw a NASCAR Touring Event into the area. They went through all kinds of proposals and plans and on and on until finally… they said it just wasn’t possible.”
“My family and I were talking about it earlier this year and I said -‘I’ll bet we could make it happen’- the next day we got together and planned things out and here we are just a few months later making the announcement.”
The K&N Pro Series East, which has been in competition since 1987, is NASCAR’s premier driver development series. In recent years, Trevor Bayne, Martin Truex Jr. and Joey Logano have used the series as a steppingstone to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Austin Dillon, the 2011 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Champion, was the K&N Pro Series East championship runner up in 2008.
Tracks on the K&N Pro Series East Schedule include some of the most famous venues in the country including Richmond International Raceway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway (Loudon), Dover International Speedway, Iowa Speedway, Greenville Pickens, Langley Speedway, Columbus Motor Speedway, Gresham Motorsports Park — and starting in 2012… the Raceway Park in Clearfield, PA.
The 2012 lineup of drivers is sure to be one of the best in series history. In 2011 development programs were fielded by some of the top teams in NASCAR like Joe Gibbs Racing, Michael Waltrip Racing, and others… along with a list of rather well know names who actually own teams in the series like Bill Elliott, Mike Curb, Junior Johnson, and Randy Lajoie… to name a few.
Some of the names NASCAR Fans will recognize who have either competed in the series or plan to enter select events next season include Chase Elliott (son of NASCAR Legend Bill Elliot), Corey Lajoie (son of former Nationwide Series Champion Randy Lajoie), Brandon McReynolds (son of Legendary Crew Chief Larry McReynolds), Coleman Pressley (son of former NASCAR Driver Robert Pressley), Robert Johnson (Grandson of NASCAR Legend Junior Johnson), Ryan Blaney (son of NASCAR Driver Dave Blaney), Fain Skinner (son of NASCAR Driver Mike Skinner), Jesse Little (son of Former Series Champion and NASCAR Driver Chad Little), and those are just a few.
“A lot of things have come together in the last few months, and we will be making other announcements very shortly,” said Tim Jr. “But it’s been great to see the interest we’ve had from so many parties in the region and also on a national level. I’m really excited about what lies ahead for NASCAR Race Fans in this part of the country as we continue to make plans for the Raceway Park.”
More information on the event will be released at www.theracewaypark.com in the upcoming weeks, but in the meantime… NASCAR Fans across Pennsylvania can mark SATURDAY JULY 14, 2012 on their calendar – as NASCAR Racing will be making its highly anticipated return to the region!
