An incident of cruelty to animals occurred sometime between Oct. 30 and Friday along Cemetery Road in Warsaw Township, Jefferson County. Three horses suffered puncture wounds by an unknown source. It appears the wounds were intentional, state police said. Anyone with information is asked to contact the DuBois-based state police at 814-371-4652.
No injuries were reported following a single-vehicle accident at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday along Interstate 80 westbound at mile marker 86 in Pine Creek Township, Jefferson County. Todd O. Moser, 45, of Bath, ME was traveling in the right lane when a bear ran in front of his freightliner and was struck by the same. He was wearing his safety belt at the time of the accident.
A two-vehicle accident occurred at 3:20 p.m. Sunday along Interstate 80 at its intersection with U.S. Route 219 in Sandy Township, Clearfield County. A Pontiac Grand Prix and a BMW were traveling in the left-hand lane. Both were subjected to sudden slowing because of unrelated accidents ahead of them. The BMW came to a controlled stop, while the Grand Prix swerved into the right lane. The Grand Prix struck the rear corner of the BMW, and it caused the back window of the Grand Prix to shatter. State police indicated that the operator of the Grand Prix was at fault for the collision. The operator was issued a warning for failure to bring the vehicle to a controlled stop within the left travel lane.
A minor injury was reported following a two-vehicle accident at 1:33 p.m. Saturday along Interstate 80 in Sandy Township, Clearfield County. A 26-year-old Barnesville, OH man was traveling westbound in the left lane, while a tractor-trailer driven by Bryon O. Mulligan, 35, of Farmdale, OH was traveling in the right lane. The Barnesville man apparently fell asleep and lost control of his vehicle, which struck the left rear corner of Mulligan’s trailer. Upon impact, his vehicle was propelled into the left guiderail before overturning onto its passenger side. The vehicle then slid along the roadway on its side until coming to a final rest in the left lane, facing northeast. The Mulligan tractor-trailer continued to travel westbound and was brought to a controlled stop on the right shoulder beyond the accident scene. The Barnesville man sustained minor injuries, and his vehicle was towed from the scene. He’ll be cited for careless driving. Both operators were wearing their safety belts.
