Morris E. “Eddie” Cartwright Sr., 69 of Philipsburg died Saturday at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College, after a battle with cancer. He was born Oct. 12, 1942 at Niagara Falls, NY and was the son of the late Florence E. Kardolley.
Mr. Cartwright was a welder, most recently retired from Apex Hydraulic & Machine Inc. He was a graduate of Philipsburg High School. He was Christian by faith.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of the Philipsburg Am Vets Post 159.
Mr. Cartwright is survived by his longtime companion, Theresa Croyle whom he resided with; four children, Morris Cartwright Jr. and his wife, Connie of Philipsburg, Theresa Putillion and her husband, Jeff of Osceola Mills, Jodi Krause and her husband, Steve of Houtzdale and Shawn Cartwright and his companion, Sherry of State College.
Also surviving are two step-children, Alicia Bumbarger and Zachery Croyle, whom he resided with and raised as his own; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two uncles, Harry Litten and his wife, Dorris of Philipsburg and Cecil Litten of Niagara Falls; and a niece, Carol “Lib” Cartwright of Philipsburg, whom he was very close with, and best friend Jean Welker of Philipsburg.
Mr. Cartwright was the last of his generation.
He was preceded in death by his mother; three sisters, Carol Cartwright, Judy Cartwright and Patty Sherokey.
Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, 228 N. Centre St. Philipsburg, with the Rev. W. Dean Krause officiating.
Friends will be received at the funeral home from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday.
