DUBOIS – The City of DuBois has agreed to support Brady Township against the disposal injection well near their border. A letter will be written on behalf of the council and sent to the Department of Environmental Protection, the Environmental Protection Agency and other relevant parties.
Citizens living in the vicinity of the well have been approaching nearby municipalities such as DuBois and Sandy Township to rally support against the well proposed to be off highland street.
Darlene Marshall spoke up against it during the public comments period stating that by time the well is permitted it would be too late to do anything against it, and the public won’t know for certain what will be injected till the permit is finalized.
“This isn’t a Marcellus Shale issue, but a waste issue,” said Marshall.
Marshall stated that everyone was being told it would be Marcellus related disposal, but until the permit was finalized could also become a disposal site for radioactive or medical waste.
She asked the audience to raise their hands if they were against the well. Nine of the thirteen present raised their hands, but some had come to the meeting with Marshall.
