UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — To show support for the victims of child abuse and raise awareness for the cause, fans attending the Penn State vs. Nebraska game on Saturday will have the opportunity to join with Penn State students in wearing the color blue. In addition, donations for two charitable organizations will be taken inside Beaver Stadium with the proceeds benefitting both Prevent Child Abuse Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape. Donations will be accepted inside the stadium gates, and any donations taken in the parking lot areas are not associated with these University-approved collections.
About Prevent Child Abuse Pennsylvania Prevent Child Abuse Pennsylvania, a program of the PA Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics, became a chartered chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America in November 2010. The first organizational meeting was held in March 2009 to create a unified, statewide approach to the prevention of child abuse in all its forms. Prevent Child Abuse Pennsylvania seeks to work in collaboration with a rich array of local and statewide efforts to develop an approach to child abuse prevention that is locally based and statewide in coverage. Their work focuses on: public awareness of child abuse; public participation in prevention of child abuse; public policy and advocacy to promote prevention; and utilization of evidence-based prevention programs for children, caregivers and parents.
