Vivian H. Matson 87 of DuBois Nursing Home and formerly of Philipsburg, passed away on Nov. 8, 2011 at the DuBois Nursing Home.
Born Aug. 1, 1925 in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of the late Christian and Emily (Neff) Matson.
She was the last of her generation.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Howard Weldon Matson.
She was a 1942 graduate of Philipsburg High School and a 1950 graduate of Penn State University, where she received a Master’s degree in math and a Master’s degree in music.
For 14 years she was a financial officer at the student union office at Penn State.
She enjoyed collecting dolls.
She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena in DuBois.
A Memorial service will be held at the Dubois Nursing Home, 212 S. 8th St. Dubois, on Nov. 10 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Charles Lee officiating.
Burial will be in the Philipsburg Cemetery.
At Miss Matson’s request there will be no visitation.
