HARRISBURG – Gov. Tom Corbett has announced that Gardner Denver Inc.’s Engineered Products Group will locate a new Aftermarket Service Center in Antis Township, creating at least 40 new jobs.
“My administration is committed to fostering a business climate in Pennsylvania that encourages companies like Gardner Denver to continue expanding and creating jobs,” Corbett said. “This project is a great example of state government partnering with business and local economic development organizations to bring new jobs and investment to our state.”
In June of 2010, Gardner Denver relocated its corporate headquarters from Illinois to Chester County. Gardner Denver’s current expansion will be located in Antis Township, Blair County, to respond to the company’s rapid growth in the natural gas industry. The 70,000-square-foot facility will manufacture fluid ends used in pressure pumps and will provide onsite service to its customers in the Marcellus Shale region. The $10 million project will create at least 40 new jobs within three years.
The project was coordinated by the Governor’s Action Team, or GAT, a group of economic development professionals who work directly with businesses that are considering locating or expanding in Pennsylvania. GAT provides site selection assistance, coordinates the involvement of other state agencies as needed, and packages the appropriate economic development funding for the project.
Gardner Denver received a $218,000 funding offer from the Department of Community and Economic Development, including a$200,000 Pennsylvania First grant and $18,000 in job training assistance.
“Having this facility in the Marcellus Shale region will allow us to serve our customers with the velocity they have grown to expect from Gardner Denver,” said Barry L. Pennypacker, company president and CEO. “We are grateful for the continued support the Governor and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania have given our company and we look forward to working closely with them in the future.”
Gardner Denver Inc. (NYSE: GDI) with 2010 revenues of approximately $1.9 billion, is a leading worldwide manufacturer of highly engineered products. The company has 40 manufacturing facilities and offices in 36 countries.
“We consider our collaborative efforts for economic development here at Altoona-Blair County Development Corp. an item of great pride and we are excited to be part of this project with Corbett, the Governor’s Action Team, DCED, our federal, state and local elected officials, agencies and private sector partners,” said Martin Marasco, President and CEO of ABCD Corp. “We are grateful to Gardner Denver for deciding on Blair County for their manufacturing operations, investment and creation of new jobs here in the heart of the I-99 Innovation Corridor Region.”
