Jack W. Chess, 91, of Reynoldsville died Sunday at Christ the King Manor. Born July 11, 1917 in DuBois, he was the son of the late Joseph and Annie (Mitravich) Chesnalavich.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in World War II in the European Theatre. He worked for the Plumbers & Pipe Fitters Union for many years.
He was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church and the Knights of Lithuania Council # 86. He was a member of the Raymond Dugan Knights of Columbus Council # 935 in Reynoldsville.
Mr. Chess was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus. He was a past member of the Old Towne Beagle Club, and was a member of the original Board of Directors of Christ the King Manor.
He married Marie (Nocerini) Chess at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Reynoldsville. She survives.
Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A scriptural wake service will be held at 4:45 p.m., which will be followed immediately by a Knights of Lithuania Council # 86 service.
The members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard will conduct a ritual service at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church with Fr. David Foradori as celebrant.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.
