Alma Catherine Swatsworth, 85 of Bloomington, Pike Township died Friday in Curwensville.
Born May 7, 1926 in Fruit Hill, Ferguson Township, she was the daughter of Harry and Oma (Bloom) Tobias. Mrs. Swatsworth was retired from Kent’s Sportswear in Curwensville in 1988 after 20 plus years of service.
She was an active member of the Community Baptist Church in Bloomington, where she helped with the cleaning team, the meal team and participated in Senior Saints. She also was very involved with her family.
On June 28, 1948, she wed Cleaver J. Swatsworth, who preceded her in death on June 11, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son Tracy Scott Swatsworth; and a grandson Rick Kelley.
Surviving are six children, Kerry D. Swatsworth and his wife, Deborah; Darrell Swatsworth and his wife, Cheryl; Carolyn Kelley and Cathy Lightner and her husband, Blake, all of Curwensville; Toby D. Swatsworth and his wife, Sue of Clearfield; and Greg Swatsworth and his wife, Linda of Spring Valley.
Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Avanelle Vaughn of New Millport and Inez Tobias of Fruit Hill.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Community Baptist Church in Bloomington with the Rev. Todd T. Hogue officiating. Interment will be in the Bloomington Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. Monday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville and from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Tuesday at the church.
