The Last Word
Jay: “P-O’s having a nice season, but I don’t think that they can hang with the Bisons this week. Since Brockway is now a running team, I think the Tide can win a game similar to their game last week over Kane. PSU will have to play a lot better than they have so far to beat a down Iowa squad that always seems to have the Nittany’s number. I don’t think Andrew Janocko’s inside info on Pitt will be enough for Rutgers to knock off the Panthers (yet!). Keep thinking that the Eagles are good, maybe they’re not.”
Dave: “This is a HUGE game for P-O to show that they have indeed arrived…but while I think they will keep it somewhat close, Clearfield will be too much. Ditto for Mo Valley against powerhouse Bellwood. Steelers pick is as much with my heart as my head, a loss would not shock me there…and the Lions need to build a lead at some point, they aren’t going to come back every week.”
Dustin: “Without question, the game of the week is Clearfield vs. P-O. The Mounties are a very strong team this year and will put up a huge battle against the Bisons, especially in front of their home crowd and on Homecoming. I’m expecting to see a crowd that is more suited for a PSU-OSU game at Beaver Stadium, and we all know how rowdy that game is once the Buckeyes have the ball. However, I’m picking Clearfield because if they establish the ground game early, that opens the air attack and there are a lot of weapons for the Bisons at wideout. It’s a personal game for me because P-O is my high school alma mater and it’s always a classic battle. This year, it will be one to watch among all the games for high school.”
Chris: Kirk Ferentz and the Hawkeyes OWN Joe Paterno and the Nittany Lions — no reason to think that will change this week. Until the QB carousel ends in Happy Valley, this team will struggle. Steelers are nicked up and didn’t look good in an ugly loss to the Texans last week. The “Dream Team” will fall to 1-4 and the Bears will bring the Lions back to reality.
Rusty: “Well, it looks like we’re into the good part of the season and the games are getting tighter. That means the picks are tougher (not that I’ve done well so far). Local teams still doing fairly well this week with some key games on the line. Sorry Penn State, I’m not feeling good about Big 10 play. The Steelers should rebound this week, but that doesn’t mean they’re a better team. When was the last time you could feel good about picking the Lions – good for Detroit.”
