UNIVERSITY PARK – Penn State Police are seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed an armed robbery of two women in the area of the Nittany Lion Shrine on Oct. 6 off Curtin Road on the University Park campus.
At around 10:05 p.m., two females stopped at the shrine to take pictures. One of the females is a Penn State student, the other is a visitor. As one woman posed near the statue, the other began to take her photograph. One male approached the woman on the lion statue from behind and told her to get on the ground, while a second male pointed a handgun at the other female and demanded she also get on the ground. The two males, described as black and college age, then demanded money. The female students, who did not any money, then surrendered their jewelry, cell phones and camera to the robbers, who fled on foot in the direction of the Nittany Parking Deck.
