The Penn State New Kensington women’s volleyball heads east this weekend for two Penn State University Athletic Conference doubleheaders at 11:30 a.m. versus Penn State Wilkes-Barre and 1 p.m. against Penn State Scranton on Saturday, Oct. 8 ; and 2 p.m. versus Penn State Hazleton, and 3:30 p.m. against Penn College on Sunday, Oct. 9. The Lady Lions are 3-3 in the PSUAC and 3-4 overall after a 3-0 loss Sept. 27 to Penn State Beaver.
The men’s soccer team returns home for a PSUAC match at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8 against Penn State Schuylkill. The team is 4-1 in the PSUAC and 5-3 overall after the 3-2 home win Sept. 28 against Penn State Beaver.
The golf team concludes the season with the PSUAC conference championships and the United States Collegiate Athletic Association national championships. The 36-hole tournaments, held concurrently, run Monday and Tuesday, Oct 10 and 11, at the Penn State Blue Course in State College, Pa.
The golf team is coming off their best tournament of the year, a second place finish Oct. 3 in the "Red Poling Invitational" at Mystic Rock Golf Course at Nemacolin in Farmington, Pa. The team went 3-1 in match play, defeating Southern Virginia University, Penn State Greater Allegheny and host Penn State Fayette and falling to Penn College. Individually, sophomore Alex Baker (St. Joseph’s) was runner-up for medalist honors with an 83 and senior Matt Knapp (Kiski Area) finished fourth overall with an 87. On the year, the Lions are 6-6 in the PSUAC and 7-6 overall.
