CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. announced the capture of a wanted fugitive. Shaw identified the fugitive as Joshua Barger, 19, of Scott Lane, Philipsburg.
Barger was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on Sept. 26.
On Feb. 28, Trooper Mary McGinnis of the Pennsylvania State Police, Clearfield Barracks, filed a criminal complaint, charging Barger with criminal attempt to commit burglary and criminal mischief.
An affidavit of probable cause filed by McGinnis states that on Nov. 29, 2010, the Pennsylvania State Police were dispatched to the Fuel On located on Walton Street in Philipsburg. After arriving at the scene, troopers observed that cement blocks had been thrown against the glass doors of the business. Upon investigation, it was found that Barger had thrown the cement blocks at the glass doors of the business in an attempt to gain entry into the store.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for March 30 at which time all charges were held for court. On Sept. 15, Barger failed to appear for criminal call and a bench was issued for his arrest.
Shaw stated that an anonymous tip to the Clearfield County Crime Stoppers provided the location of Barger. On Sept. 28, officers from the Decatur Township Police Department apprehended Barger, and he was taken into custody without incident. Barger is currently lodged in the Clearfield County Jail.
Shaw thanked the Decatur Township Police Department for their assistance with this case.
