CLEARFIELD – On Tuesday three water projects requesting aid got a boost. The Clearfield County Commissioners approved Community Development Block Grant funding for the Cooper Township Municipal Authority, Burnside Borough, and the Covington, Karthaus, Girard Area Authority.
The CTMA project will assist about 49 households in Munson and Allport. The project will assist in the decrease of water loss, improving water quality for consumption and fire protection. The total cost of the project is $77,446.
The Burnside Borough project will help solve low pressure problems. Fire protection for residents’ homes is a concern and existing fire hydrants cannot be used. The funding will assist with the purchase and construction of a water storage tank. The total cost is $242,000.
The CKGAA project if for a new waterline that will serve about $54 residents on Buck Run Road in Girard Township. The project will provide safe and potable water for residents experiencing water shortages throughout the year. The total project cost is $513,000.
