An incident of theft by unlawful taking or disposition reportedly occurred sometime between 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and 12:30 p.m. Thursday along Reservoir Road in Spring Creek Township, Elk County. A person(s) removed four Hubbard squash from a 70-year-old Ridgway man’s garden. The squash weighed between 70 to 90 pounds each. They also removed 12 smaller Hubbard squash that weighed approximately 8 pounds each.  The total value of the stolen squash is $136. A bad check was reported at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at Friday’s Gas & Oil in Jay Township, Elk County. A known suspect wrote a check for $120 with insufficient funds. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

A 20-year-old Waverly, NY man told the state police that he left $1,200 in his rented hotel room, and when he returned, it was missing. The investigation is ongoing at this time. A hit-and-run accident was reported at 1:15 a.m. Saturday along Coal Hollow Road in Fox Township, Elk County. A vehicle was traveling south when its operator failed to negotiate a left-hand curve. The vehicle vacated the roadway, struck a tree and then a mailbox before traveling into a yard. The operator then fled the scene.
