CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Revitalization Corporation, has partnered with Lock Haven University Clearfield Campus to offer a new program linking the downtown merchants with faculty and students. “Meet up on Main Street” offers faculty, staff and students discounts at participating businesses in the Main Street District with proof of an LHU photo ID.
The Main Street Manager, Kellie Truman stated, “This was an opportunity to connect the campus with downtown activity. ‘Meet up on Main Street’ encourages the campus to think local by encouraging students and staff to meet up in the downtown stores and restaurants.”
This program has a unique twist, which incorporated the local talent of Ian Aughinbaugh to create and design a special “Meet up on Main Street” logo for participating businesses to place on their doors. Aughinbaugh has designed the CRC logo, and the labels for the “Clearfield” benefit wine through Starr Hill Wineries. With Aughinbaugh’s talent, all LHU students and faculty can look for the “Meet up on Main Street” logo on the participating businesses doors.
LHU Clearfield Campus Marketing Director Matt Checchio has worked to create a Web site for the campus to tap into, listing participating businesses and discounts. Checchio commented, “The website is a great platform for campus members to see all of the current offers and specials by the participating merchants. We plan to start featuring a participating CRC merchant each month at the top of the webpage, including photos and videos, to allow the business to showcase their products and services to help drive traffic to downtown Clearfield. Â It’s a great program to better link the campus and community together.”
As the program launches, more merchants can be added throughout the year, so the campus is encouraged to check the Web site frequently. If there are merchants who have not participated yet and would like to, please call the CRC office at 814-765-6000.
