CLEARFIELD – A staple in the Clearfield community is looking to upgrade, and is asking for the public’s help.
Brian Marshall, representing the Clearfield Swimming Pool Association, attended Thursday’s Clearfield Borough Council meeting to give council information on the Associatin’s plans.
Marshall said the association has a $400,000 capitol campaign under way to raise funds for upgrading the Clearfield Community Pool. He said they are hoping to get matching funds from the state.
Before getting into what the Association has planned, Marshall gave council a history lesson on the pool. He said the pool’s been in the community for 45 years. He said past campaigns have gone toward a filtration system, gutters and some lining on the pool bottom.
Future plans include a new fence, a double slide, and more. According to Marshall, the Association had hoped to use the winnings from the Pepsi Refresh Challenge toward the fence. The pool placed 12th, and needed to place tenth for a money award. Marshall noted that if all of the items on the list were done, the cost would be around $800,000.
