CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced Clearfield County’s Fugitive of the Week for the week of Sept. 12, 2011.
Shaw identified the Fugitive as Matthew Clyde, age 28, of Curry Run Road, Mahaffey.
Shaw stated that Clyde is wanted for failure to appear at a preliminary hearing held on Sept. 7, 2011.
On July 1, 2011, Tpr. Kimberly Ronan of the Pennsylvania State Police, Clearfield Barracks, filed a criminal complaint charging Clyde with: 1) theft by unlawful taking, M1; 2) theft by deception, M1; and 3) receiving stolen property, M1.
An affidavit of probable cause filed by Ronan states that in May 2011 the Pennsylvania State Police began an investigation into the theft of scrap metal from a property in Greenwood Township. Upon investigation it was found that Clyde had taken approximately 3,080 pounds of steel from the location. It was also found that Clyde had sold the metal to a local salvage yard and received approximately $385.00.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Sept. 7, 2011, at which time Clyde failed to appear and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.
