DUBOIS — The Curwensville Lady Tide opened up their 2011 season with a trip to DuBois to take on the Lady Beavers on Tuesday night.
Despite the Lady Tide falling short 3-1 (20-25, 25-23, 18-25, 23-25) to the hosts, Head Coach Sandy Bailor was happy with her team’s effort, “Overall we played a solid volleyball match; I was pleased with the girl’s effort, we had some mental mistakes and service errors that contributed to the loss, but I give the girls credit after losing three major contributors to our team from graduation (Taylor Thornhill, Rachel Michaels and Audrey Thomas) the girls stepped it up and played a competitive match. We have lots of work to do but if I get the effort that I got tonight this team is going to surprise some teams.”
Madison Peterman led the team with nine service points and 16 assists, while  Savannah Strickland led at the net with seven kills and four blocks. Hannah Bressler had 35 digs.
The Lady Tide (0-1) will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Brookville to compete in their tournament.
