WOODLAND – A Madera man has been charged in connection to a case involving two stolen ATVs.
Jared J. Wilks has been charged with theft of motor vehicles, burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief and receiving stolen property.
According to police, the thefts occurred between Aug. 29-31. It is alleged that Wilks burglarized a Tyrone man’s residence and obtained the keys to his 2011 Polaris RZR. Wilks and a known accomplice reportedly stole the ATV and destroyed it. Police said Wilks then stole a Houtzdale man’s 2011 Polaris RZR, and that he and his accomplice fled the area.
On Aug. 31 police obtained information that Wilks and his accomplice were hiding in Houtzdale Borough. The state police took both into custody. Both ATVs were recovered and returned to their owners.
Wilks was arraigned and placed in Clearfield County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail. It was not revealed if his accomplice has been charged yet.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
