A protection from abuse violation was reported at 8 p.m. Monday at the Wal-Mart parking lot along North Atherton Street in Patton Township. A 34-year-old Drifting man was in a vehicle being driven by the victim, a 16-year-old Osceola Mills girl. There’s currently an active PFA in which the accused isn’t permitted to have any contact with the girl. The incident was reported to the state police on Wednesday, and a warrant was obtained from the magistrate’s office. The accused was taken into custody at his place of employment on Thursday morning. He was arraigned and released on bail pending a hearing Aug. 24.
Minor injuries were reported after a single-vehicle accident at 6:50 a.m. Thursday along state Route 3042 (the old U.S. Route 322) in Huston Township. A motorcycle was being operated by Peter Hudson, 58, of Port Matilda when a deer entered the roadway. Hudson was unable to avoid striking the deer and lost control at which time he was thrown from his motorcycle. It came to a rest approximately 180 feet from the point of impact. He was transported to the Mount Nittany Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Police were assisted at the scene by the Port Matilda Fire Company.
Minor injuries were reported after a two-vehicle accident at 9:50 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Presqueisle and North Second Streets in Philipsburg Borough. A 28-year-old Philipsburg man was traveling north on his all-terrain vehicle along Second Street and entered into the intersection and path of a vehicle being driven east on Presqueisle Street by Justin Hubler, 26, of Philipsburg. The left, front of the Hubler vehicle struck the left side of the ATV. Hubler was wearing his seatbelt and wasn’t injured in the accident. The ATV operator sustained minor injuries but refused medical treatment. He’ll face summary charges as a result of the accident.
Sometime between 7 p.m. Wednesday and 7 a.m. Thursday, someone reportedly broke into a building at the PennDOT Stockpile #12 along state Route 3040 in Worth Township. Once inside, they removed a case of soda and keys for a 2002 Ford F350 pick-up truck, which is yellow in color and has a PennDOT logo on it. A computer case that belonged to a Julian man was also stolen as well as a pair of Everest hiking boots that belonged to a State College man. State police received a call at approximately 3 p.m. from a PennDOT employee who related the vehicle had been located at a Salvage Yard near Tyrone. The Holidaysburg-based state police will investigate and verify if it’s the one stolen.
