CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced today that a Mahaffey drug dealer has been sentenced to state prison.
Shaw identified the defendant as Robert N. Fiasco, age 33, of Mahaffey. Currently, Fiasco is housed in the Clearfield County Jail pending transfer to the State Prison System.
A criminal complaint filed by the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General, charged Fiasco with: 1) the manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance, F, 4 counts; 2)Â person not to possess, use, manufacture, control, sell or transfer firearms, F2; 3) criminal use of a communication facility, F3, 4 counts; and 4) knowingly or intentionally possessing a controlled or counterfeit substance, M, 5 counts.
An affidavit of probable cause provides that in May 2010, narcotics agents of the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General Bureau of Narcotics Investigations and Drug Control began an investigation into the sale and distribution of heroin in Clearfield County. With the assistance of the Drug Task Force, agents were able to setup four controlled purchases of heroin where Fiasco sold narcotics to a confidential informant. During each sale, the confidential informant provided Fiasco with prerecorded U.S. currency in exchange for heroin.
As a result of the four controlled purchases of heroin, Agents were able to obtain on search warrant for Fiasco’s residence. Upon execution of the search warrant, Agents recovered ten stamp bags of heroin, as well as $3,209.00 in U.S. Currency.
Fiasco tendered a plea of guilt to the charges, and on Aug. 16, 2011 the Honorable Fredric J. Ammerman sentenced Fiasco to a minimum of 3 years and a maximum of 10 years incarceration in the State Prison System.
Following sentencing Shaw stated that this was an intense investigation in response to multiple reports from community members in the Mahaffey area. Shaw stated that he is deeply concerned with this type of criminal conduct and noted that drug dealing has the ability to destroy communities. Shaw thanked Agents from the Attorney General’s Office and Troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police for their hard work on this case.Â
