CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced the capture of a wanted fugitive. Shaw identified the Fugitive as Joseph Hoover, Jr., age 23, of Munson.
Hoover was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on July 18, 2011.
On March 20, 2010, Lieutenant Todd E. Lombardo of the Morris-Copper Regional Police Department, filed a criminal complaint charging Hoover with 1) theft by unlawful taking, F3; 2) receiving stolen property, F3; and 3) criminal trespass, S.
An affidavit of probable cause filed by Lombardo states that in February 2010, the Morris- Copper Regional Police began an investigation into a theft that occurred at a coal site located in Hawk Run. Upon investigation, it was found that Hoover had unlawfully removed various items valued at approximately $7,500.00 from the property.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for March 24, 2010, at which time all charges were held for court. On July 14, 2011, Hoover failed to appear for criminal call and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Shaw stated that on July 20, 2011, Hoover voluntarily surrendered himself to Deputies from the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office, and he was taken into custody.
