CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Commissioners accepted resignations from two of their leaders at the Clearfield County Emergency Management Services at Tuesday’s regular board meeting.
Dave McClure, Emergency Management Agency director, and Joe Mitchell, EMA deputy director, have submitted their letters of resignation to the county. Both resignations are effective Aug, 19.
McClure was appointed as the acting EMA director in May 2010 when former EMA director Joshua Quigley vacated the position. McClure was permanently appointed in July 2010 and has served in the position since.
McClure has been the EMA director for one year and worked for the county’s EMA for 21.5 years. When asked after the board meeting, McClure said he had accepted a safety consultant position in the gas industry.
Mitchell has worked for the county for 4.5 years and served as the EMA deputy director during his entire tenure. He’ll be continuing his career in local government and leading DuBois City’s Redevelopment Authority.
“Both Dave and Joe are moving on to opportunities that will be good for them. We’ll miss them because they have been an invaluable part of our EMA,” Commissioner Mark B. McCracken said.
Commissioner Chairperson Joan Robinson-McMillen said they were saddened by the departure of McClure and Mitchell. However, she said the two must do what is best for themselves as well as their families.
“You’re moving onward and upward, and we certainly wish you the best,” Commissioner John A. Sobel said.
