A hit-and-run accident was reported at approximately 4 a.m. Wednesday along Interstate 99 at mile marker 63 northbound in Worth Township, Centre County. A tractor-trailer driven by an unknown operator and a Nissan Amada operated by Kristen E. Hess, 27, of Winston Salem, NC were traveling along I-99. The tractor-trailer was in the right lane and the Hess vehicle in the left.
Both vehicles were traveling side-by-side when the tractor-trailer drifted into the left lane, side-swiping the Hess vehicle with its trailer. Hess pulled her vehicle off onto the west berm, while the operator of the tractor-trailer continued northbound.
Troopers haven’t been able to locate the operator of the tractor-trailer. Hess and her two passengers were not injured, and her vehicle sustained minor damage.
