CLEARFIELD – The 2011 Clearfield Ministerium Vesper Services began at 7 p.m. on July 31, at the Grove Stage at the Clearfield County Fair.
The Vesper Services included a butterfly release, which was a fundraiser for the Clearfield Hospice organization. Anyone interested could purchase a butterfly in advance or could buy one before the service in memory or in honor of someone in hospice care.
The butterflies were hand-reared in a garden in New Castle. The names of those honored with the purchase of a butterfly were read aloud while the butterflies were distributed. Following the distribution, there was a poem titled “You Will Always Be With Me” and then on the count of three everyone released their Painted Ladies, as the butterflies were called. There were 195 Painted Ladies released and now the rare butterfly will be in the Clearfield area.
Following the butterfly release was a performance by the local Christian band A Day Awaits.
