Edith L. Spagnolo, 93, of Clearfield died Thursday at the Clearfield Hospital.
She was born on Jan. 28, 1918 in Curwensville and the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Carfley) Tagliaferri. Mrs. Spagnolo was a homemaker and also employed by the Clearfield Area School District where she worked in the cafeteria.
She was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield. In addition, she was a member of the Sons of Italy Lodge No. 189, Clearfield and the Martha Washington Lodge #1525.
She will be remembered for her love of baking cookies for everyone to enjoy and her strong faith and belief in the power of prayer. She enjoyed making afghan blankets and made certain that everyone in the family had one to keep.
She is survived by two children, Dennis A. Spagnolo of Erie and Mary Jo Seprish and her husband, Robert of Morrisdale; four grandchildren, Stacy Ricciotti and her husband, Darin; Scott Seprish; and Michael and Daniel Spagnolo; two great-grandchildren, Anastasia Ricciotti and Benjamin Spagnolo; a sister, Angeline Kramer of Curwensville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony J. ‘Spag’ Spagnolo on Oct. 12, 2008 and whom she married Aug. 16, 1947 at the St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, Curwensville; two brothers and a sister, Thomas Jr. and Louie Tagliaferri and Irene Petracca; and three infant siblings.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield with Msgr. Henry L. Krebs as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.
Friends will be received from 1 – 4 p.m. Sunday and from 9 – 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield.
