PENN TOWNSHIP – A 43-year-old Curwensville man sustained major injury and was transported to the Altoona Hospital after a motorcycle accident Tuesday night along U.S. Route 219 in Penn Township, the Clearfield-based state police reported.
According to the report, the man was negotiating a left-hand curve in the roadway at which time his motorcycle traveled off the west berm, striking a guide rail. His motorcycle continued to follow the guide rail for approximately 250 feet, where it came to a final rest in the southbound lane.
The man traveled on top of the guide rail for approximately 33 feet. He was thrown over the guide rail and landed approximately 70 feet from the initial point of impact. Then, he rolled south off the west berm and came to a final rest after an additional 48 feet among a group of trees, state police said.
The man was wearing a motorcycle helmet at the time of the accident. He’ll be charged for driving too fast for conditions, according to the report.
